  • The past two days I taught my first public yoga classes. And let me tell you - I was nervous. But it was the good kind of nervous. The one when you know deep down that this is what you should do, because this is where your heart belongs. The one when you just have to push through the first uncomfortable moments. And so I did. And it was awesome. Once I got into the flow of things everything fell into place.
    When I first started with yoga I would’ve never thought that I would teach a class someday. And it has given me so much already - learning to trust myself, to find and use my voice. And I’m so excited to teach more in the future. ✨

    IMPROVE YOUR POSTURE Today we’ll release our chest, pecs, and fronts of our shoulders, because so many of us are really getting STUCK in bad postures and ending up in lots of PAIN!!! 🔥😫🔥 Your muscles begin to adapt to the positions you mostly stay in, i.e. slouching! so take care of your body and MOVE throughout your day to reverse the negative effects of sitting and slouching. 🙌🏽⚡️ After work, or during your work day if you can, find a few moments to do these two stretches. You’re worth taking 2 minutes of YOUR day to heal pain and improve your posture. 💪🏼 invite your coworkers to do it with you! It’ll be fun :) Overtime, doing this a few minutes each day will drastically change you from someone who experiences a lot of discomfort and fatigue to someone who is proactive, energized, and pain free! 👩🏼‍💻.

    Stretch 1️⃣:
    🔸 Start in downward dog and slowly lower yourself down to the floor. Place elbows under shoulders, forearms parallel to one another.
    🔸 Lengthen neck by drawing shoulders do your back.
    🔸 Pull belly button to spine, and allow your hips and legs to relax behind you. 🔹 Breathe deeply and completely here for 1-2 minutes.

    Stretch 2️⃣:
    🔸 Lye on your stomach with legs together and arms stretched out to a T.
    🔸 Begin to roll over into your left hip, and place your right hand in front of your chest to navigate your body. 🔸 Place your right foot behind you and lay your head on the floor. 🔹 Hold here for 30 seconds - 2 minutes.
    🔹 Breathe deeply in and out through your nose.
    🔹 Repeat other side.

  • day 1 of #NAMASTAYOHM is heart openers and i chose wild thing (camatkarasana) for todays theme. i love all kinds of heart openers, they open the shoulders, chest & lungs. it also helps stretching the hip flexors & thighs. and strengthens the shoulder & upper back. so overall a quite beneficial pose to use in your physical practice.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    i’ve practiced yoga ca 4 years now. ... well on and off. in yoga classes we’re told how the physical yoga affects our emotions and internal energy and what not. at first i found it a bit silly, i only went to yoga classes to get a break from the constant chatter i had inside my head. on the yoga mat i found peace, because i was so focused on the breathe & postures. in retrospect i somehow see what yoga has done to me on a deeper level. i used to be very closed off after i was diagnosed with an chronic illness. only a few selected people were told what was wrong with me & i hated the thought of people gossiping about me & my ... issues. but by time i learned to be more open and to remove the shield that i had built up. now it’s not gutwrenchening anymore to answer questions about my health journey & i also try to use my experiences as a tool at work (im a nurse). perhaps i don’t feel an immediate emotion while im in heart opening poses, but overall i do see change. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
