  • "I just don't have time to do all of it!" You know what? That's true. You don't. Neither do I. However, you will not hear me say "I don't have time". You will hear me say "That's not a priority right now". Recently I worked an extremely hectic cardiac arrest that resulted in me needing a new uniform. When I arrived at the ER the Dr asked me if I had given a certain medication. Now, when I say this was a hectic call, I mean I have never seen a more stunned student than the one we had that day. If I told the Dr that I didn't give the med because I didn't have time, she could have pulled charts from many others and shown that they all had the same amount of time and had been able to give the med. But instead I told her "No, I didn't give it. It was in my treatment plan, but it became a lower priority when I needed to get control of the airway". She was perfectly fine with this answer and saw that I had triaged my time correctly.
I decided to carry this mindset into every area of my life.
This week I'm graduating with my Assoc. Yes, I'm happy. But I could have graduated 4 years ago. I made excuses for taking all the breaks I did, but it comes down to having my priorities skewed.
Do you know what happened this week on Modern Family? Seriously. Because I don't. A year ago I made it a priority to know that answer. Now I have no idea. The only TV I watch now is with Dreamy Eyes and I'm usually reading at the same time.
In the past few weeks I have made a quilt, potty trained twins, gotten up at 5:30 every day to workout for 60 minutes, finished college, planned meals and ate clean, read a book, listened to a ton of podcasts, folded laundry during conference calls, trained coaches, and grew my business even more.
In January I get to cut my workouts to 20 minutes, but I'm going to get up at the same time because I will gain 40 minutes a day for writing my book!
If you can tell yourself that you don't have 20 minutes a day to devote to your own health then you probably won't see this because that should mean you also don't have time for social media. For everyone else, what's holding you back from making YOU a priority?
