  • Working on my teaser this #teasertuesday . Such a challenging exercise, lifting straight legs has been the one of the last things for me to get the strength back for after having babies. Balancing on my uneven ( from scoliosis) pelvis has always been a big one too. The spinal articulation with the straps to work against/ with is do delicious though! Happy Teaser Tuesday. What exrcise challenges you the most?

    "Before" photo shows her weight unevenly distributed, her spine looks ever so slightly misaligned -like a zigzag- from hips to shoulders. "After" photos show:

    Mild scoliosis will usually not require significant medical attention and is not as visible to the eye as other posture disorders. Moderate scoliosis may develop into severe scoliosis, defined as a spine curvature between 40 and 45 degrees.
    Severe scoliosis usually needs to be corrected with spinal surgery.

  • Filming homework for a client is one of the things I have a bit of a love/hate relationship doing. I hate watching it back, I’m so self critical of my form and see all the things I’m doing wrong! Plus I HATE listening to my voice 😬 BUT I love the difference it makes to a client when they are able to practice their pilates more regularly than once a week. 😊 My body is a long way away from being what people view as ‘A pilates body’ but the difference pilates makes to MY body far outweighs what I look like! It’s about how I feel and pilates enables me to live a virtually pain free life. THAT far outweighs being able to fit into a size 8 jeans!   • Lots of people like to think of scars as a reminder of how strong they are. I think of mine as the opposite— a reminder of how broken, weak, and vulnerable I am. I have a scar because I’ve walked through a vulnerable time. A time of pain. Of suffering. Of anguish, both physical and emotional. My scar reminds me that I’m not superhuman, and that no matter how much I try to control my circumstances, sometimes I just have to surrender. •


    I have to trust that there is a bigger picture. That Jesus, my Savior, is there to walk me through pain and confusion, and that he’ll still be there on the other side. He’ll still be there 11 years later, and a lifetime later. There are times in my life when I’ve believed he’s abandoned me and let me sit in my own pain. But now? I believe he was there all along, crying with me over my pain and mourning with me over my brokenness. He was sitting right there in the pit of darkness with me, and it’s there that He taught me how rich His goodness is and how deep His love is for me. •


    So, my scar isn’t a sign of my strength. I’m not strong. I’m broken. I’m human. I’m imperfect and I’m vulnerable to pain, just like I was on the day of that major surgery and just like I still am today. But in my weakness, in my brokenness, in my vulnerability, HE is made strong.

    • The head is slightly off center
    • One hip is more prominent than the other
    • The ribcage is not symmetrical - the ribs may be at different heights
    • One shoulder is higher than the other
    • Leaning to one side
