  • With a FOOSH Injury and pain over the volar wrist and/or anatomic snuff box you should be concerned of course for scaphoid fx. You should also consider an injury to the scapholunate ligament. To better evaluate on imaging get a clenched fist view. Any more than 5mm gap of the SL joint is abnormal.

  • last day of term! in true medical school fashion, i spent the day in clinic on the paediatrics ward at the hospital, which meant crossing town at sunrise.

  • On Monday, I started feeling pain on my lower wisdom teeth. So, I checked into my dental insurance (thank God for it!) and called to make an appointment with the dentist.
By Tues, I was in a significant amount of pain to the point where I couldn’t eat and my mouth was bleeding constantly.
Wednesday, the dentist said that the tooth was clearly causing me serious discomfort, along with inflammation and bleeding that it needed to come out ASAP.

So, here we are Thursday. I had my left wisdom teeth taken out early this morning and dear God I was in a significant amount of pain. I’ve set alarms to remind me when to take my meds and trying to do everything I can to make it stop. The numbness has gone down completely and there’s just a lot of blood and changing of the gauzes.
Thankfully some friends gave me a quick heads up on what to expect. No need to remove the right side right now and no clear desire in the near future. I didn’t realize I was such a baby when it came to mouth pain 🥺. —⚜️👩🏻‍⚕️

  • I'd say "what a year", but let's be honest, it's mostly last month.

Part 1: Dermatology, rheumatology, and orthopaedics block is done! 🙌🏼
    👩🏻‍⚕️
    3 things I learned:
1️⃣. Dermatology is A LOT MORE than viral exanthems and acne. I HAD NO IDEA how many skin diseases had some sort of necrosis or boils/blisters/pustules. I can do blood, vomit, and guts just fine, but some of those skin diseases are quite a sight. •
2️⃣. Microscopes are used a lot to diagnose skin diseases. Gotta love histopathology! •
3️⃣. It’s fascinating how the skin can reveal internal disorders as well (i.e. diabetes, hypothyroidism, etc). •
💜 Overall, I enjoyed derm. I don’t see it being the specialty for me, but I’m really glad to now have a good grasp on skin! 🙂

    🇪🇸

    Obs.1: ACABOU ANATOMIA!!!!

  • Let's talk Christmas delivery dates! Order by TUESDAY 12/18 if you use regular shipping. If you order by Wednesdsy 12/19 we can still get it to you if you choose expedited shipping at checkout. For canvas prints and framed prints we can no longer guarantee Christmas arrival. (although there's still a good chance they'd still get there in time if you order soon!) And now here's an orthopedic hardware painting for your viewing pleasure.

  • #tbt to my white coat ceremony last August. Hard to believe it’s been a year and a half since I started on my medical school journey. Our last preclinical exam is on Monday, and after that it’s out of the classroom and onto the clinic. I can’t wait to start my medicine rotation! Any Instagram residents or attendings out there have advice for a student about to start clerkships?
