  • Today didn't go as planned. I almost bombed out in the snatch, which should have been an easy 'get on the board' number (60kg), but thankfully made my third attempt. In the Clean and Jerk things started better. My form was ON, even if the bar felt a little heavy. My first two attempts went great! But in my third lift I let the weight shift into my toes during the first pull, leaving me with no way for me to exert force on the bar once I hit the power position. I have never had a lift like that, including in training, and here's to not having one again (sidenote - I forget who it was, but I saw a lifter do the same thing during Worlds and was perplexed at what happened... lesson learned!) .
    I am frustrated with myself. I have lifted much more and was prepared to do big things today, but I just didn't pull it together. That said, I choose to focus on what I can learn from today. I got to experience my first "make or break" lift ever in the snatch. I have always made my opening attempts, so missing my first two lifts and feeling that pressure... OOF THAT IS SOME GOOD EXPERIENCE TO GET. Proud of myself for pulling through and sticking my third snatch attempt like a total freaking 👸QUEEN👸. .
    This meet also has clarified my goals for my next training cycle. The big theme is going to be CONSISTENCY. I've snatched 70kg and C&J'ed 81kg in training, and I ought to be doing more in competition than my training maxes. Right now, my performance is too grounded on arbitrary good days and bad days, and the next step in my journey as an athlete is to build that consistency so that I can perform well whenever I step up to the bar. To do that, I just need to become more consistent in my movements/technique ("just" - lol, it's nbd just becoming better over here 💪💪). .
    TLDR, I almost bombed out today, but I saved it! I am proud of myself for showing up, fighting through a rough day, and sticking with it. I am also frustrated with myself for being inconsistent and for failing to channel my nervous energy into productive energy. These things happen, though, and I will move forward, I will become more consistent and stronger, and I will continue to freaking SLAAAAY. 🏋️‍♀️

    Second pic ugly ass 53 snatch recieving dubious white lights. I could tell something moved still not sure if it was my shoulder or elbow - you can see the shock on my face when I saw the white lights!
    Third pic my 68 kg showing my tired hypertrophy cycle legs.
    All looking a bit slow and ugly but I'm six weeks back from not being allowed to touch the bar due to the broken wrist and I'm in rebuild mode. Lots of reps make you stronger but slow and ugly.
    This is how I felt so it's doing its job I suppose. Will start the new cycle in January and I hope to put 2018 in room 101 never to be seen again. I can at least say I'm back where I started this clusterf**k of a year.
