  • I made Chrismon ornaments for our Christmas tree! Chrismons are “Christian Monograms” that I learned about in Church just over a week ago. Each symbol represents an event or sign of remembrance that relates to our faith. I had a tricky time burning some of these onto the wood (still learning!) as the wood was hard and also they’re quite small so I had to be very careful. So I apologize for them looking so “rustic”? 😂 I had fun though!! The meaning of each symbol is below:

    1. The Angel- that came to the shepherds to tell them of the birth of Jesus
    2. The Fish- One of the oldest Christian symbols, to represent that some of Jesus’ followers were fishermen and of course the story with all the fish being caught too. In the early days of Christianity people would greet each other and use their foot to draw a half oval in the dirt, if the other person completed the drawing with another half oval to make a fish they knew they were both Christian.
    3. The Dove- To remember those we miss at Christmas and as a symbol of peace
    4. The Crèche- also known as the manger where Jesus was born
    5. The Star of David- to remember that Jesus was Jewish and a descendant from David
    6. The Chi-Rho- pronounced “Key-Row” these are the first two letters of the word Christos (Christ) in the greek alphabet
    7. The Nativity Star- The star that guided the 3 wisemen to Jesus, Mary, and Joseph
    8. The Cross- To remember the sacrifice Jesus made
    9. The Anchor- To symbolize that Christ is the anchor of our faith
    10. The Holy Trinity- The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit
    11. The Heart- To represent that God is love
    12. The Chalice- To remember God’s forgiveness and for communion
    13. The Five Pointed Star- although it has other meanings for pagans for Christians it represents the five wounds of Christ on the cross

  • Have you ever listened to The #avettbrothers ? They are one of my favorite bands of all time and if you haven't yet, please do! You won't regret it! I love this line from there song, "Head Full Of Doubt". It has always resonated with me. .
    .
And I love putting a little mantras on magnets. We look at our fridge every single day. Why not make it a point of inspiration?
